How to Make a Button Bracelet
Turn buttons into a beautiful handmade bracelet with just a few simple steps!
Step 1: Plan Your Design
Lay out your buttons and beads in the pattern you'd like to use before you begin.
Step 2: Create the Clasp Loop
Using the wax cord, make a loop that is just large enough to fit around the button you'll be using as your clasp. Round buttons work best for this. Tie a secure knot at the base of the loop.
Step 3: Thread Your Needle
Thread the opposite end of the cord through the included needle. The needle makes it much easier to string the buttons and beads.
Step 4: Add Your Beads & Buttons
To add a bead:
- Thread the bead onto the needle and slide it down to the end of your bracelet (or previous bead/button you strung)
- Tie a knot snug against the bead to hold it securely in place.
To add a button:
- Bring the needle up through one hole of the button and back down through the second hole.
- Slide the button down next to the previous bead or button.
- Tie a knot snug against the button to keep it in place.
Step 5: Continue Your Pattern
Repeat the process, alternating beads and buttons in your chosen design until the bracelet reaches your desired length.
Step 6: Add the Button Clasp
String your clasp button the same way as the other buttons. Instead of tying the knot directly behind the button, bring the cord back around to the side where you came up through the first hole, creating a small loop behind the button. Tie several secure knots to hold the button firmly in place. Trim any excess cord. You can also add a dab of craft glue to the knot for extra security.
Your button bracelet is now complete! Slip the button through the loop you made in Step 2, and enjoy your handmade creation.
